Working With Ost Integrity Check Tool

Most of the times we get error messages while synchronizing the Offline Folder file .OST in Microsoft Office Outlook with our mailbox on an Exchange Server. In addition some email items get missing from the OST file or from the mailbox after synchronization of .ost file and the mailbox.

In such situations OST to PST conversion becomes the apt choice. But before you can try your hand on using OST Integrity Check tool, also known as Scanost.exe used for checking your .ost file. The OST Integrity Check tool runs only on .ost files and can be used to diagnose and repair synchronization issues.

This Integrity Check tool scans both your .ost file and your mailbox on the server running Exchange, compares the items and folders in each, and attempts to reconcile synchronization differences between them. This tool simply records any differences in a scan log so that you can see the discrepancies that it found and get it resolved. The scan log also identifies any situations that the tool could not correct which you will need to fix manually. The scan log can be found in your Deleted Items folder.

Microsoft Office 2011 For Mac Users Announced 2

Why am I too excited about the Office 2011 is because of the features, such as:

a) It will be possible for the Mac users to collaborate, share files and documents with other Mac and Windows users, using the office web app and share point.

b) As in Google docs you can share the file with others, same feature will be there in the new office. You just need to create a word file on your laptop and share files with others. You just need to right click and a pop up will show you all the people currently working on the document, you can now send message to all of the them.

c) The newly designed ribbon is even more easy to use, it takes advantage of Apple’s Core Animation system. Rearranging the tabs becomes more smother due to this. If clicked on any tab it expands into popovers and won’t effect the document you are working on.

d) Outlook in office 2011, provides you with the facility to install your old emails from windows on to Mac. It also supports the IRM( Information Right Management), which allows the sender the option to make discretion among the receivers of the mail and set the access rights for them. This feature is embedded keeping the cross platform Mac users in mind.

These are only few of the feature which had created a huge buzz around, there are too many others to be unleashed yet. I think they would have really worked hard on data security too. But, I can’t understand, how the data recovery software companies will cope up with it, as I’ve heard of mac data recovery software, windows data recovery software, mac file recovery software, file recovery software for windows, Pst recovery for windows, but will it be possible to make a data recovery software to cope up with both the windows and the Mac Operating systems at a time? Till the time Office 2011 is not released questions like these and many others will keep on arising, what we can do is just wait till the years end

Microsoft Office 2011 For Mac Users Announced

Microsoft has recently announced that the they are about to launch Microsoft office 2011 for the Mac users, in the Mac expo. Even after the lack of details about Microsoft office 2011 there was a huge but positive buzz among the people. Most of the people like me were worried about the outlook competence of the Office 2011, I was relieved when I came to know that they have also announced email compatibility, which will support .PST files too. Predicted launch of the office is, by the start of the holiday season of 2010.

The main motto behind the launch of the office was something beyond the compatibility factor, they wanted to make sure that the presentations , documents, spreadsheets created by the Mac users on one platform should work efficiently on other platform. As, Microsoft Mac team knows that only few of the mac users use Windows.

Do You Need An External Data Back Up? 2

If you have fair amount of hardware knowledge, and are not the one who messed up the hard drive in the first place, it may be possible for you to do your own hard drive data recovery. Keep in mind that to do this, you may need to fix your master boot record, or retrieve data from a physically damaged disk. If you cannot do this, then you will need to employ the services of a hard disk drive data recovery expert. Software is available to help you in data recovery. However, you have to use them carefully. Modern operating systems offers you a facility called ‘system restore point’, if your system becomes unstable after installing a software or feature. However, this can only help in a few cases. You may need to deal with problems such as invalid registry entries or bad sectors. Sometimes it is even difficult find the cause for a disk crash. Actually, if your system crashes and you do not actually recover data for a living, I would suggest you go straight to a hard drive data recovery expert. They are expensive, but compared to what you might be losing because of your disk crash… Its justified that you get an expert for data recovery. These people are specialized in what they do. You can save yourself from further messing up with the hard drive.

If you are not fortunate enough to find a data recovery expert in your locality, you know what can really help you save money if your hard drive does crash? Backing up your data. It is a sensible thing to do, even if you have some hard disk data recovery experts available. It is simply because external hard drives are getting cheaper. Typically, you get a 160 GB or 320 GB hard disk with your PC or Laptop. External hard disk drives are available up to 1 TB (1000 GB) in storage space and they are reasonably priced. You can backup your hard drive completely (even if you have two) on a single external hard disk drive. You can even synchronize the data between your main files and backup files frequently using software available with these external hard disk drives. These external hard disk drives are compact and sturdy enough for data backup purposes.

You should definitely consider an external back up. At least you will not have to search for hard drive data recovery expert or pay a huge amount that can buy you a few back up disk drives.

Do You Need An External Data Back Up?

Hard drives
are not perfect, although they are amazing example of mechanical engineering combined with electronics. Physical damage can easily occur since these hard disks are spinning at such high speeds such as 5400 RPM (Rotations per minute). It can also happen because of user’s carelessness. The smallest interference while in use can cause damage in certain areas. Though the hard drive manufacturers incorporate several features to prevent the likelihood of a critical hard drive failure, they are not 100% effective. Sadly, physical damage is not the only reason why you may need to attempt hard drive data recovery. Many people accidentally wipe out their hard drives because they are not sure what they are doing. In addition, some badly written programs, viruses and poor maintenance of disk drive can damage the data on the hard drive.
